About Me

Hi, I'm Sarah, and this little shop started on my kitchen table, on my husband's 3D printer.

I work as a nursery practitioner, and I've spent more weekends than I can count hunting for just the right thing to bring a tuff tray to life - the mermaid for the under-the-sea week, the little spider for Incy Wincy, the set of vehicles for a wet Tuesday afternoon when the children needed something brand new to spark imaginative play. When I couldn't find what I wanted, I started making it. My husband had a 3D printer, I asked if I could borrow it to print a few shapes for a sensory filling tray, and didn't really give it back.

One of the very first things I printed to take into nursery was a set of fill shapes for a weather-themed sand tray. A little one in our setting had just come back from a beach holiday and I wanted to build a tray that might gently encourage him to chat about his trip. He absolutely loved it, and so did the rest of the room. From then on I was hooked. I started printing more bits and pieces, taking them in for the children to explore and sharing them with my co-workers, who kept gently nudging me that other settings would love these too - that I really should be selling them. After enough of those nudges, I finally took the leap. That was about ten months ago. What began as "just a few pieces for our setting" has turned into a growing range of fill shapes, scoops, dinosaurs and role-play sets shared with other nursery practitioners, childminders and homeschooling families up and down the UK.

Every piece is printed by me, one at a time, in PLA, a plant-based bioplastic made from cornstarch instead of crude oil. It's biodegradable, low-waste, and gentle enough that I'm happy for little hands to play with it. Because I print to order there's no warehouse of unsold stock, no toys shipped halfway around the world, and no plastic blister packs. I called the shop PlayGreener because that's really what I'm trying to do: make better toys for the children we love, in a way that's a bit kinder to the planet they're going to inherit.

A few things worth knowing: most items are made to order and printed within 1-3 days. Colours can vary slightly between batches of filament, so each piece has its own little character. A few of my designs use models I've licensed from talented creators on MakerWorld (credited on each listing) - I print them; they shaped them. And I'm a one-woman operation working around shifts at nursery, so if anything ever isn't right when it arrives, just message me. I'll always sort it.

Thank you for stopping by, I hope something here helps your little ones have a lovely week of play.

Sarah
